Headstands before bed :)
Love this boy! LP always has something going on. Tonight he wanted to show me he could stand on his head for 5 minutes. He has mastered the headstand. I guess I should now enroll him in yoga, break dancing or gymnastics.
He must be tired because he hasn't come downstairs yet. With KP out of town I am always happy to hear his little feet walking down the stairs and the hall in the middle of the night. He climbs right into our bed and goes back to sleep.
About 5 years ago I would insist he go back to his bed. I even went so far as to make him a bed on the floor near our bed. I had hoped this would encourage him to go back to his soft bed. I don't remember when I started to relax about the whole bedtime routine. Funny how I have changed. Much less stress on both parts as we listen and love. Instead of telling LP to stay on his bed I tell him to come down if he needs me. I love the littles and bigs and wish I could keep them little just a little longer.

Landon is 19 years old today!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Landon! I love this sweet boy of ours and wish I could give him a big hug today! He is over in Singapore, serving a mission, for another year and 1/2. I doubt he is standing on his head this morning but I have no doubt he is having fun. I can almost hear his happy whistle as I type this. Landon always has a positive step is so creative! I wish I had recognized more of that gift when he was little.
When he was sent to the "timeout" bench (which I don't recommend anymore) he would line up couch pillows to extend his boundary and allow himself to get off of the bench. Creative, right? If the pillows were touching the timeout bench he felt it was all the same. I LOVE him so much. If that happened today, my words would be, "Landon, you are so very creative, I love you! Let's talk about why you are on time out so you can get off." I hope I responded somewhat like that 15 years ago.
Children are born to play! Working off of their creative playfulness is so much more fun than working against it! There is always a reason for what they do. Look for the WHY before you send them away to timeout! There is no reason to burnout a fire of fun when you could just as easily light up a fire of family fun.
